In 2016 you will hear more about virtual reality. Lots more. Sony, Samsung, Oculus, HTC, and Google are among a slew of big players looking for a piece of the rapidly growing VR pie. Prices are dropping and the software to support the VR world is being developed at a wild pace.
The big driver is gaming and entertainment, obviously. Yet, there are other applications being developed that may just foreshadow a more significant future for VR. Immersive technology is already making inroads in medicine, real estate, fashion, and the military.
The day when VR headsets are as common as smartphones may seem far fetched today. Yet, it’s easy to see that by the end of 2016 we will be at least a few steps closer. The implications are hard to predict, but it is worth contemplating how this technology could change particular industries, and in particular your business.
